About the Event
Already at its third edition, Social Enterprise Day 2016 is an event that is part of the project ”Enhancing Social Entrepreneurship, Building Bridges”, coordinated by the NESsT Romania Foundation and implemented in partnership with the Social Entrepreneurship Impact & Finance (SEIF, Switzerland) and Alaturi de Voi Foundation (ADV, Romania). The overall objective of the project is to strengthen the role of social enterprises, as promoters of positive change towards an inclusive society, transferring knowledge and best practices between Romania and Switzerland. The project is co-financed by a grant from Switzerland through the Swiss Contribution to the enlarged EU.
The event addresses both social entrepreneurs from Romania and other players in the sector – financial institutions, donors, representatives of public authorities, support organizations for entrepreneurs, people passionate about finding solutions to problems faced by social enterprises.
Participation is free and places are limited.
Agenda
The general theme of the event is ”The role of social enterprises in Romania, challenges, solutions and opportunities”, and besides discussions and presentations there will also be held and a social enterprises marketplace.

The opening plenary will gather perspectives on why social enterprises might be in the best position to create long term impact.

ACCESS TO FINANCE FOR SOCIAL ENTERPRISES
Four different stakeholders in the social enterprise space – a ministry, a foundation, an impact investing fund and a bank – will present their viewpoints on social enterprise investing, offering insights on their due diligence practices, discussing challenges and recommendations on how to overcome them.

BEYOND MONEY
The objective of this panel is to gain an overview over the non-financial needs of support of social enterprises, and to discuss effective services available in the ecosystem.
LAUNCH OF THE SOCIAL INVESTMENT TASK FORCE FOR CENTRAL & EASTERN EUROPE
The CEE Social Investment Task Force is a regional movement that engages relevant stakeholders in fostering investment in high impact social enterprises in order to help them grow and increase their impact. The CEE Task Force was launched at the initiative of NESsT, building on its 20-year experience of supporting social enterprises in the region.
The immediate goal of the CEE Task Force is to catalyze the early stage impact-investing sector in the region, starting with Romania, Hungary and Poland.

The fair will take place in the foyer of the first floor of the Novotel Hotel. Over 20 exhibitors invite you to visit their stands, purchase products and to hear the story. Cosanzeana creates and sales creative wooden sewing sets. It created 3 jobs for persons from vulnerable groups and increasing the incomes for 5 to 10 persons with very low incomes from the community in the first year of activity.

Home Care Association provides care services for the elderly and their families. The enterprise employs four people from the community and offers free care services to some seniors in need.

The Association Berca runs social projects in the community, since 2004 and in 2016 also founded a social enterprise: a factory of pickles and canned fruits / vegetables. They employ 3 people from vulnerable groups.

Bunicel produces traditional and innovative jams. Bunicel employs two women from the community who were previously long-term-unemployed and buys fruit from 10 small local producers.

Agapis’ social enterprise, Valea Barcăului, produces two lines of gourmet, healthy honey and dried fruits with an emphasis on nutritional value, under the brand Sănătate Dulce, and supports the small producers.
Sells fair-trade and eco-friendly products from local producers who have limited access to markets.
Viitor Plus’ social enterprise Atelierul de Pânză sells environmentally friendly shopping bags made from natural materials as an alternative to plastic bags. These bags are made by people with disabilities who work from home or from Viitor Plus’ production facility.
Trains and gives jobs in its bakery to young people who live on the streets, allowing them to earn income and reintegrate into their communities.
Trains and employs women from the rural village of Ghirbom to become professional bakers, building on their lifelong experience baking bread at home in wood-fired ovens.
